In The Interrupters, Violence Interrupters go out to gang members to try to stop gang violence. Stopping the violence is important to ending the cycle of violence. Acts of violence cause people to retaliate with more violence, continuing the cycle. So if the violence stops, more people don't have to be killed. In the movie, "The Interrupters," former gang members, go to gangs and try to help the gang members learn from their experiences as members of gangs. Their goal is to influence people to stop gang violence. People in their communities can help stop gang violence by informing kids about gang violence and maybe making a project to inform their communities.
S.O.S. in the South Bronx works to help end rivalries and conflicts between gangs right in our own community. Like the Violence Interrupters, S.O.S. consists of activists, counselors, and former gang members who want to see a positive change in our community.
A movement away from violence is happening all across America with more and more people speaking out against violence in our community.
